4-week Beginners’ Handbuilding Course
March 28 – April 18 2018
This 4-week course (one 2.5 hour class per week) aims to introduce students to some of the main techniques of hand-building such as pinching, coiling and slab-building. During this time, students will be taught to create a variety of forms such as bowls, pots, and slab boxes, as well as create textures on surfaces. You will also be taught how to glazes your pieces. Pieces will be fired at the end of course, and students can come to collect their pieces anytime after. This course is ideal for beginners. For people with only wheel-throwing experience, this course is a great complement in helping you to further develop your work with details, such as making handles and textures.
The cost of this course includes 5kg of clay, and use of tools and materials for decorating and glazing. Basic tools (for you to keep!) and firing will be under separate costs. This course will take in a maximum of 7 students to provide maximum guidance. Sign-ups will be on a first-come-first-serve basis.
